The closing line is different: it's the market's final, sharpest estimate, with every injury report and sharp dollar priced in. If your prices consistently beat the close, you're getting real value; if they consistently trail it, the wins are luck.

What is closing line value (CLV)?

The closing line is the market's final price before a game starts — the sharpest estimate the market produces. CLV measures how much better (or worse) your price was than the close, in probability points. Consistently beating the close is the standard evidence of real edge.

Why probability points instead of odds?

Odds gaps mislead: -110 to -125 and +400 to +350 are very different moves in probability terms. Converting both prices to de-vigged probabilities and differencing them puts every market on the same scale.

Why can't it find my bet?

The checker looks up closing lines the scanner actually captured. If it wasn't tracking that player, stat, line, and date, there's no close to compare against — the tool says so instead of interpolating one.

I beat the close but the bet lost. Did I do something wrong?

No — that's variance. Beating the close means you got a better price than the market's final estimate; single results are noise. CLV matters as a trend across many bets, not as a verdict on one.
